PocketWizard Plus II

11th August 2009
I've just taken delivery of two PocketWizard Plus II's and as a consequence I'm really looking forward to trying out some creative off-camera flash photography.

The Plus II's act as both receiver and transmitter and by placing one on the hotshoe of your camera and attaching the other one to your flash you can now trigger the flash remotely and wirelessly at distances of up to 400m.

You can also use the PocketWizards to remotely trigger your camera with the right cable attached and although interesting this is not the primary reason I bought them. I'm looking forward to some creative possibilities with on location shooting to get some off-camera lighting into my shots. But first we shall have to experiment at home and figure out just how best to utilise them.

The plan is also to trigger my other 580EX flash via a Master/Slave setup from the 580EXII attached to the PocketWizard which allows for some Key/Fill lighting ratio setup.

Look forward to seeing some shots in my Gallery with this creative lighting option now open to me.
